Mr. Soumitra Majumdar is a Partner in the Banking & Finance practice at JSA Advocates & Solicitors, where he advises leading Indian and multinational financial institutions, corporates, non-banking finance companies and development finance institutions on a wide spectrum of financing and restructuring matters. His expertise spans bilateral and syndicated credit facilities, project financing, acquisition financing, structured & trade finance transactions, enforcement of security interests, corporate debt restructuring (both contractual and statutory), and insolvency-related issues.

Since qualifying as a lawyer in 2007 and being admitted to the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa, Mr. Majumdar has developed a robust practice that includes advising on large-scale debt financings, cross-border finance, debt capital markets and complex restructurings. He regularly provides strategic legal counsel on documentation, due diligence and negotiations for financing transactions involving various sectors including energy, infrastructure, real estate and urban infrastructure.

Soumitra has been recognised as a “Rising Star Partner” in banking, project finance, and restructuring & insolvency by independent legal directories, reflecting his standing in the market. He is also an active member of INSOL India and publishes regularly on topical banking and finance law issues, contributing to practice guides and thought leadership pieces, while conducting training sessions and webinars for finance professionals.

Before joining JSA, he gained in-house experience as legal counsel with ICICI Bank Limited. His academic foundation is anchored in a B.A. LL.B (Hons) from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences.
