Mr. Scott Atkins is the Global Head of Restructuring and Insolvency at Norton Rose Fulbright and is based in Australia. He leads the firm’s global restructuring, turnaround and special situations practice, advising on some of the most complex cross-border restructurings, distressed M&A, insolvencies and workout situations across multiple jurisdictions. Scott advises banks, private equity funds, distressed investors, corporates, insolvency practitioners and boards on all aspects of financial distress, restructuring and enforcement strategies.

Mr. Scott has acted in several of the largest and most significant restructuring and insolvency matters in the Asia-Pacific region, including complex multi-jurisdictional restructurings involving Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK, the US and offshore jurisdictions. His work spans court-supervised reorganisations, schemes of arrangement, voluntary administrations, liquidations, debt restructurings, and distressed acquisitions, and he is regularly instructed in matters involving financial institutions, infrastructure, aviation, energy, shipping and large corporate groups.

He is widely regarded as one of the leading restructuring lawyers globally and has been consistently recognised by international legal directories such as Chambers Global, Legal 500, IFLR1000 and Who’s Who Legal as a top-tier practitioner in restructuring and insolvency. Scott is also an active thought leader in the insolvency and restructuring space and frequently speaks at international conferences and contributes to policy and law reform discussions across jurisdictions.

Mr. Scott is a member of INSOL International, INSOL Asia, the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and other global insolvency and restructuring bodies. He has held leadership roles within INSOL and regularly works with regulators, courts and professional bodies on developing best practices in cross-border insolvency and restructuring frameworks. He is also closely involved in professional education and capacity-building for insolvency practitioners, lawyers and financial professionals across the Asia-Pacific region.
