Mr. Mark J. Forte is Partner and Head of BVI Litigation & Restructuring at Conyers, British Virgin Islands. Mark leads the firm’s Litigation and Restructuring practice, advising on complex commercial litigation, contentious cross-border insolvency matters, emergency interim relief and high-stakes dispute resolution. He regularly represents liquidators, creditors, government entities and multinational corporates in major BVI proceedings and provides strategic advice on international asset‑tracing measures. Mark’s practice also encompasses arbitration support from the BVI courts and expert witness work in investment treaty arbitrations and in the United States Bankruptcy Court.

Mr. Mark has over 30 years of litigation experience, having commenced his career as a barrister at 8 King Street Chambers in England in 1989 after completing pupillage at Gray’s Inn, London. Since joining Conyers in 2004 to establish and grow the BVI Litigation & Restructuring team, he has built a leading practice recognised for its depth and expertise in some of the jurisdiction’s most significant cases. He frequently appears as lead counsel in the BVI Commercial Court and Court of Appeal against distinguished opposing counsel, including King’s Counsel, and also acts in matters involving CIS jurisdictions, the UAE and Africa.

Mr. Mark is consistently ranked by Chambers Global, Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal (Global Elite Asset Recovery) and IFLR1000 for his dispute resolution and restructuring work, with directories noting his “huge experience” and strong client engagement. He is a respected speaker at international conferences such as INSOL, COMBAR and C5, previously served on the editorial board of INSOL World and is a Director of the BVI International Arbitration Centre.

Before joining Conyers, Mr. Mark practised as a barrister in England and Northern Ireland. He holds an LLB (Hons) from Manchester Metropolitan University, completed professional training at the Inns of Court School of Law, London, and has undertaken executive education in Disruptive Strategy at Harvard Business School Online.

Representative matters include acting for the largest creditor in the Three Arrows Capital insolvency (setting significant legal precedents in crypto‑related jurisprudence); leading commercial litigation and shareholder relief cases in the BVI courts; advising in high‑value insolvency and asset tracing actions; and providing emergency relief and strategic litigation support in cross‑border disputes.
