Mr. Jamie H. M. Sprayregen

Mr. James H. M. “Jamie” Sprayregen is Vice‑Chairman, Global Strategy and Growth at Hilco Global, a leading diversified global financial services firm. In his role, Jamie is a key strategic advisor to Hilco Global’s CEO and founder, working alongside senior leadership to drive the firm’s commercial growth, expand its solutions‑focused platform across restructuring, advisory, capital solutions, and principal investing, and strengthen long‑term enterprise value creation for clients worldwide. He leverages his deep restructuring and advisory experience in combination with Hilco Global’s broad merchant banking capabilities to deliver customised transaction solutions for complex, stressed, and special situations.

Mr. Jamie is widely recognised as one of the foremost dealmakers and thought leaders in the global restructuring, corporate reorganisation, and M&A community. Prior to joining Hilco Global, he founded and led the world‑renowned Restructuring Group at Kirkland & Ellis, building it from inception in 1990 into one of the premier restructuring practices globally. During his distinguished legal career, he has advised on landmark restructurings and reorganisations for clients across industries, including major cases involving Energy Future Holdings, Caesars, Avaya, Toys “R” Us, iHeartMedia, Seadrill, General Growth, Japan Airlines, United Airlines and Reader’s Digest.

Mr. Jamie’s leadership and influence in the restructuring field have been widely recognised: he was named one of The National Law Journal’s “Decade’s Most Influential Lawyers”, received the Global Insolvency & Restructuring Lawyer of the Year award from Who’s Who Legal, and was inducted into the Turnaround Management Association’s Turnaround and Restructuring Investing Industry Hall of Fame. He also served as President of INSOL International, one of the world’s leading insolvency associations, and is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy as well as a member of the International Insolvency Institute and the National Bankruptcy Conference.

In addition to his executive role, Jamie serves as an adjunct full professor of finance at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches a joint course on corporate restructuring with the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He is active on the boards of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and the American Jewish Committee Board of Governors, and serves on the board of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and World Business Chicago.

Mr. Jamie holds a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law (1985) and a B.A. from the University of Michigan (1982).
