Mr. Abizer Diwanji

Mr. Abizer Diwanji is the Founder and Designated Partner of NeoStrat Advisors LLP, a commercial counsel and strategic advisory firm. At NeoStrat, Mr. Abizer leverages over three decades of experience at the intersection of finance, restructuring, regulation, investment banking, and governance to provide strategic and commercial advisory services, dispute resolution counsel, investment banking support, and board-level guidance. Mr. Abizer partners with promoters, boards, and CXOs on complex financial and governance challenges, helping stakeholders unlock value and make informed decisions. He also actively works on capital‑structure-led transactions and turnaround mandates.

Prior to founding NeoStrat, Mr. Abizer was the Head of Financial Services & Restructuring at EY India, where he built and led a large, multidisciplinary practice spanning advisory, tax, due diligence, and deals. Over his long career at EY, he played a key role in major transformations in the financial services sector, contributed to the development of India’s distressed‑asset resolution frameworks, and led numerous high-profile M&A, restructuring, and turnaround engagements. Before joining EY, Mr. Abizer spent nearly two decades with KPMG, where he helped establish transaction services and restructuring capabilities, earning a reputation for strategic thinking and client-focused leadership. He has also held operational leadership roles, including as COO of the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust’s redevelopment project and as Head of Treasury Operations at ANZ Grindlays Bank in the Middle East.

Mr. Abizer serves in board and audit committee roles across the financial services ecosystem, including positions at SBM Bank India and Mahindra Manulife Asset Management, as well as leadership roles in microfinance and governance‑focused institutions. He also provides advisory support to fintech and wealth‑management firms, contributing to alternative asset strategies, technology-driven investment solutions, and financial innovation initiatives.

An accredited Chartered Accountant and rank‑holder from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mr. Abizer holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Sydenham College, University of Mumbai. He frequently contributes to industry discourse through thought leadership, regulatory committee participation, and as a visiting faculty and course director for programs on restructuring, finance, governance, and leadership at premier institutions.

Mr. Abizer’s career highlights include leading the development of restructuring capabilities at top professional services firms, advising on more than 150 complex financial and operational transactions, and helping shape policy frameworks and industry practices in distressed‑asset resolution, strategic advisory, and corporate governance in India.
